Work Health and Safety
Georges River Council places great importance on the health and safety of all people in the workplace and expects suppliers and contractors to make the workplace a safe environment. When suppliers are asked to document how they manage WH&S, the standard expected will depend on the type of work being undertaken and the risks involved.
Georges River Council has a requirement to be legally compliant from a work health and safety perspective with regards to the engagement and utilisation of contractor and supplier services.
Council has engaged the management services of BNG Contractor Services Pty Ltd (BNG) Conserve to provide this service. If you become a provider of works / services or supply to Georges River Council, your organisation is required to undergo the accreditation process with BNG Conserve to become an “Approved” contractor / supplier for Council.
There is an annual licensing fee of $180.00 + GST (payable by you to BNG Conserve) for this service. If your organisation is already accredited with BNG Conserve, please advise Council and BNG to complete the Georges River Council online induction process. If you are not currently accredited with BNG and you become a provider to Council, please contact BNG to commence the on-line registration of your organisation via BNG Conserve.
Environment and Sustainability
Positive environmental outcomes are very important to Georges River Council. All things being equal, suppliers offering green credentials and environmentally friendly practices will be more favourably considered.
Council looks favourably upon suppliers who have:
- A green product and/or Service Product and/or Service;
- Low Environmental Impact;
- Responsible Waste Disposal; and
- Sustainable Methods of production and/or service.
It is understandable that not all suppliers have formal environmental accreditation, especially smaller organisations. In many cases, showing a legitimate commitment to sustainability is a big step towards winning Council’s business.
