Food Safety Supervisor Certification

The New South Wales food legislation requires all retail food business that serve:
  • Ready to eat food,
  • Potentially hazardous food, and
  • Food not sold or served in its original packaging
to nominate a Food Safety Supervisor (FSS) who has obtained a FSS certificate. However, there are some exemptions such as school canteens and childcare premises.
 
FSS certificates are valid for five years. Owners of food businesses should be sure certificate renewal is obtained before expiration.
