Sunday 5 March 2017
Georges River Council joins the local community to participate in Clean Up Australia Day every year in March. This is now the nation's largest community-based environmental event and includes tailored activities for businesses and schools to embrace this important national initiative.
Community members, schools and businesses are encouraged to register an area of their local government area which is in need of a clean: be that a local laneway, park, bushland area, or waterway.
To register a site and become a site coordinator or participate as a volunteer on the day visit www.cleanupaustraliaday.org.au
or phone 1800 282 329.
You must register your site at www.cleanupaustraliaday.org.au
and selecting the link "Create a Clean Up Site"
Follow the steps to register your Clean Up site. Each site must have a nominated Site Manager/Supervisor to organise the site on the day.
Council will organise the collection of rubbish bags collected on the day. Please be sure to indicate your nominated rubbish collection point on your site registration.
The cut off date for registration of clean up sites is two (2) weeks prior to the event.
All registered sites receive a Clean Up Kit which contains rubbish and recycling bags, gloves, site supervisor vest, and documentation. Additional materials are available. Go to www.cleanupaustraliaday.org.au/about/resource-centre/kits
for more information. Please allow two (2) weeks for delivery of your kit.
Further information on dedicated cleanup sites in the Georges River Council area will be announced in early 2017.
