Affordable Housing

Affordable housing provides local people on low to moderate incomes with opportunities to rent a home at a rate which is below market value.

The NSW Government’s State Environmental Planning Policy (Affordable Rental Housing) 2009 is designed to increase the amount and diversity of affordable housing in NSW. As your Council, it is our role to act on affordable housing shortages and help facilitate planning permissions to increase different types of housing in the local area.

Granny Flats

Granny flats are permitted in all residential areas subject to certain criteria. If you would like to develop a granny flat, you must seek approval from Council.

If the granny flat meets the specific standards within the Policy, Council can certify the granny flat as a complying development without the need for a Development Application.
