Gannons Park Shared Pedestrian and Cycle Path
In 2012, following extensive community consultation, the former Hurstville City Council approved the Gannons Park Landscape Masterplan that provided a long-term vision for Gannons Park, Peakhurst. This plan includes the construction of a new shared pedestrian and cycle path around the park.
Georges River Council has engaged KK Civil Engineering to undertake the construction of the shared pedestrian and cycle path which will commence Monday 5 September 2016.
The construction of the shared pedestrian and cycleway will enhance the park and lead to improved accessibility throughout the park by connecting two main locations – the upper sports field and the lower passive recreational spaces.
During construction, the major components will include, but not limited to:
- A three (3) metre wide concrete pedestrian and cycle path throughout the park
- A three (3) metre wide asphalt pedestrian and cycle path in selected locations
- Adjustments to the road island and kerb on Pindari Road for the new cycle track, and a new pedestrian fence
- Reinstatement of all surfaces disturbed by the works
