Community Consultation

Community Strategic Plan

Extensive community consultation was undertaken to help inform and develop Georges River Council’s first Community Strategic Plan, which identifies the main priorities and aspirations of the community over the next 10 years and how these will be achieved.

As a new organisation, this is one of the first large-scale community engagement processes Council has undertaken. Council’s engagement with the local community consisted of:

  • 10 pop-up stalls at various locations across the local government area, where people could express their thoughts, ideas and aspirations for the future of the Georges River area. Up to 355 people visited these stalls and provided a great insight into how they envisage the area.
  • Two community vision workshops where 60 members of the community attended. At these workshops, community members helped co-design a vision for the future of Georges River and were able to collaborate and share their ideas with other people.
  • A Postcard Survey and Telephone Survey

The findings of these engagement activities and surveys, which were guided by the Georges River Council Community Strategic Plan Engagement Strategy are presented in the following documents:

Council is currently developing the draft Community Strategic Plan that respond to this community feedback. The draft Plan, and other related documents, will be on exhibition in May when the community will have another opportunity to provide input to the future of the Georges River area.

Please contact Council for further information on the development of the Community Strategic Plan.
