At this time, Council and Committee meetings are not open to the public to attend in person.
To ensure compliance with the Public Health Order and Section 10 of the
Local Government Act 1993, Council will continue to livestream all Council and Committee meetings.
In accordance with Council’s resolution from 24 August 2020 (NM071-20), registered speakers now have the option of;
- addressing the meeting remotely; OR
- providing a written submission for staff to read to the relevant meeting.
Council meets regularly to make decisions for the local government area. Council’s
Code of Meeting Practice explains how all meetings of Council operate and how you can comment on matters before Council.
Residents are encouraged to participate and can register to speak on any item on an agenda. To lodge a request to speak at a Council or Committee Meeting, please complete the Request to Speak at Council Meeting form.

Committees and Panels
On 4 October 2017, Council resolved to establish the following Committees which will be held on the second Monday of the month:
Effective immediately (and until further notice), all future Committee Meetings will be presented in the following formats to enable compliance with WHS obligations and social distancing requirements. As a result, the scheduling of Committee Meetings has been adjusted as follows;
- 6.00pm - Finance and Governance Committee - Live Broadcast
- 6.00pm - Community and Culture Committee – Live Broadcast
- 7.00pm - Environment and Planning Committee – Live Broadcast
- 7.00pm - Assets and Infrastructure Committee – Live Broadcast
In addition Advisory Committees have been established for:
- Local Traffic
- Floodplain Risk Management Committee
The role of the committees is to provide specialist knowledge on a specific topic or issue and assist Council to make decisions on matters in the Georges River area.

Extraordinary Meeting 21 December 2020
In accordance with resolution of Council, all Ordinary Council Meetings are scheduled for the fourth Monday of each month at Georges River Civic Centre, cnr Dora and MacMahon
Streets Hurstville, commencing at 7.00pm. Extraordinary Council meetings are called when required.
Each meeting of Council is minuted, and the Minutes are published on Council’s website after the Minutes have been confirmed at the subsequent meeting.
Meetings are being broadcast live and can be viewed on any internet connected device.
