Information for Residents and Voters

Council Elections will be held on Saturday 9 September 2017.

To check you are enrolled to vote please visit the Vote NSW website or call 1300 135 736. Resident and Business enrolment forms are also available from any Australia Post Office. The electoral roll closes on 31 July 2017 for voting in the September 2017 Council Elections.

Voting in a local government election is compulsory in NSW for all residents over the age of 18. Fines apply for not voting.

You may vote as a non-resident if:

  • You are not a resident of a Council ward but own rateable land in a Council Ward.
  • You are an occupier or a rate paying lessee of rateable land in a Council Ward.

To be eligible, you must register as a non-resident individual applicant or as a corporation/entity (or joint and several owners). Please note that it is not compulsory for those on the non-residential roll to vote.

You can view a copy of the Georges River non-residential roll online or in person at a Council Service Centre.

Election Information

To vote in the upcoming Georges River Council elections, you will need to know what ward you are located in.
