Council to give away free trees for National Tree Day 2017

17/07/2017

Georges River Council is encouraging local residents to celebrate National Tree Day by joining Council in tree planting events and tree giveaways on Saturday 29 and Sunday 30 July.

National Tree Day is one of Australia’s biggest nature care initiatives with more than 200,000 people participating across the country every year.

The initiative helps address important environmental issues like the loss of habitat for native wildlife, soil salinity, erosion and contributes to individual and community health.

Residents are encouraged to get involved by collecting a free tree and by helping regenerate our greenspaces.

By participating in this event, residents will have the opportunity to do something positive for the local environment.

The Georges River region has a large number of green spaces and parklands, and with the commitment of volunteers, these spaces can continue to grow for the benefit of the community.
