Council’s new logo unveiled
Georges River Council unveiled its new corporate logo in April 2017.

As a newly amalgamated organisation, Council was required by the NSW Department of Premier and Cabinet to develop of a new logo in consultation with the local community. In creating this new logo, Council wanted to create strong branding which best reflected not just the new organisation but also the local area and its people.

We developed three new logo designs to take to the community for their feedback. These included a dragon, a shield and a mosaic design. Council advertised these new designs extensively across a number of channels, including via community kiosks, Council’s website and social media platforms, a survey, and via advertisements in the St George Leader newspaper.

A total of 693 people provided feedback on the designs and the results overwhelmingly indicated that the dragon logo was the most popular option. In fact, many survey participants said the positive meanings behind the design and its relevance to the area influenced their decision.

Design of the logo took place in-house, which resulted in considerable savings to ratepayers. The project was a great example of staff collaboration, which also demonstrated their commitment to making Georges River the best performing Council in NSW.

Rollout of the new logo is occurring in stages - the initial focus was on priority areas including signage on Council Facilities and venues, front-line staff uniforms and Council’s vehicle fleet. Recently, branded suburb signage and signs at major parks have been installed throughout the area.
