Lunar New Year

This year, Council welcomed the Year of the Rooster with a number of events across the 15 day period, including two spectacular celebrations in both Hurstville and Kogarah reaching up to 50,000 residents and visitors to the area.

Both events featured the traditional Lion Dance, entertainment, food stalls, giveaways and a festival atmosphere.

A number of activities were also held across Council’s libraries and Hurstville Museum & Gallery, including the Signature Lunar New Year Exhibition – Wu Xing. This exhibition explored the Chinese theory of the ‘five elements’ – wood, fire, earth, metal and water.
